The Miami University Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MUCTM) is dedicated to the improvement of professional preparation for teachers of school mathematics thus improving teaching and learning of school mathematics for all students at all levels. To that end, we adopt the following goals:

  1. To promote improved practices in school mathematics.

  2. To encourage commitment to professional growth and continued professional improvement.

  3. To identify and support those students seeking preparation as mathematics teachers.

  4. To promote awareness of and appreciation for the content and pedagogy among all levels of school mathematics.

  5. To focus attention of the University community on the problems and needs in school mathematics and teacher preparation.

MUCTM holds monthly meetings in which guest speakers give a presentation on various aspects of teaching mathematics. MUCTM also sponsors several events throughout the year.

MUCTM is a great resource that provides Miami University faculty and students with opportunities to hear professional teachers, as well as the chance to interact with other education students outside the classroom.

MUCTM membership costs fifteen dollars annually, which also includes membership to OCTM. To join, bring your dues along with a completed membership to any of the meetings.
