The Miami University Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MUCTM) is the university organization which:
Promotes excellence in teaching mathematics in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.
Sets up a forum for an exchange on the teaching of mathematics.
Provides Miami University faculty and students the opportunity to hear professional teachers and attend conferences at the local, state, and national levels.
Publishes for its members a website with information on upcoming events and educational experiences.
Provides a chance for education students to get to know one another outside the classroom.
Supports mathematics education by its affiliation with OCTM (the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and NCTM (the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics).
More About MUCTM
MUCTM is an organization which exists solely for the purpose of bettering mathematics education. Its members are dedicated education students and teachers who meet and discuss the current trends and future of their field.
There are monthly meetings in which a guest speaker gives a presentation on an aspect of teaching mathematics.
MUCTM also sponsors and conducts Kids Conferences (at schools in southwest Ohio). These are Saturday morning enrichment programs for young mathematics students.
